Gupshup has appointed Ravi Dugar as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO) as the company prepares for its next phase of global growth.

Dugar brings nearly two decades of experience in financial leadership, having previously held senior finance roles at Bharti Airtel and Livguard Energy Technologies.
Most recently, he served as CFO at Awfis, where he led the company’s finance function and supported preparations for its public market debut in 2024.

At Gupshup, Dugar will oversee the company’s financial strategy, including long-term planning, capital allocation and investor relations, while also working with the leadership team on strategic initiatives such as partnerships, investments and acquisitions.

Founded by Beerud Sheth, the company provides conversational AI solutions for marketing, commerce and customer support.

The platform currently serves over 50,000 businesses across 130 countries and processes more than 120 billion messages annually across channels including WhatsApp, voice, web and mobile applications.

Gupshup has raised significant funding over the years. In 2021, the company achieved unicorn status after raising USD 100 million from Tiger Global Management, followed by another USD 240 million funding round the same year. It has also acquired companies such as Knowlarity, Active.ai and OneDirect to strengthen its product capabilities. Last year, the company raised USD 60 million in a mix of equity and debt funding from Globespan Capital Partners.

In 2024, Gupshup also undertook a restructuring exercise that resulted in around 300 layoffs, as it looked to improve operational efficiency and focus on profitable growth after a period of rapid expansion.

According to the company’s last disclosed financials, Gupshup reported revenue of Rs 1,619 crore and a profit of Rs 49 crore in FY23, while estimates suggest the company may have ended FY24 with revenue of around USD 300 million (approximately Rs 2,500 crore).

In India’s conversational AI and CPaaS market, Gupshup competes with platforms such as Freshchat from Freshworks, WATI and Zoho SalesIQ.
